But now shrinks the place where you stand: Where now, stripped by shade, will you go? — Paul Celan

Planet 22

Planet 22—
Circling around your own sun
in that thin belt that supports life,
I dream about you,

I dream of your
lush forests where night,
still pure and dark,
comes with a sky studded with stars

Where amphibian life,
creatures similar to our own little frogs,
populates the darkness
with their songs of rain

Planet 22–
You know where this is going:
In this vast universe you are there
my unreachable paradise

You are what we could have been
The continual sighs of a forest
The continual singing of frogs
Like the breath of a living planet
